Jan Willem Nijman’s game Atomic Super Boss is a bullet hell shooter, based on maxing your score with the endless boss. Aiming is automatic, so you just lean on the fire button and dodge his attacks. The closer you get to him, the more points you receive.

And now: Poppenkast member mirosurabu has made a Flash port. Head on over here to play it!

Cactus news – it rules

Great news on the Cactus front:

Air Pirates is just being tweaked, and is getting help screens (Cactus says: “something I’m not very used to adding to my games”).

Life/Death/Island is in the works, and sounds amazing. Check the vid for some early… things. Here’s his description:

“It’s procedural and generates islands. The islands have different environments, and wildlife currently including bears, dogs, spiders, birds, maggots, zombies and mutants. The cities also have accessible sewer systems, cars that you can steal, and buildings you can enter. You can also find people to gang up with, to make survival a bit easier.”

Aaand his game Tuning is an IndieCade finalist. Congrats.

I hope this plays exactly like the video. It could be the best game ever made.

Hey. Let’s jump.

Let’s Jump is another flixel game — seems that it’s a really useful package! You control a little dude jumping out of a plane. And you have a gun, so use it to move yourself around, firing in the direction you want to move away from. Birds and bees will also fly around in your way, so you’ve got to dodge and shoot them. Just try to stay falling for as long as possible!

It’s made by Hideous and Andy Wolff, and you can play it here or check the flixel topic about it here. The video in this post is a somewhat old trailer, but you’ll get the idea.

Time Fcuk is kufcing cool

It’s out (after that delay), and it’s pretty sweet. The trailer above doesn’t tell you all that much on how it works, but it’s pretty easy to pick up. You control that little dude doing all the jumping, and you need to get to the portal thing in each room. The trick is working out how.

You have to switch the perspective, so that you move from the background to the foreground. This changes the obstacles, tunnels and platforms you’re standing on.  Often, you need to do this in mid-air, so you jump from one solid object in one layer, to another object in another layer.

But that’s just how it starts…

The animation is very smooth, and the whole design looks great. That head on the side of the screen gives you hints and things, or just says creepy stuff. The music is gloomy and weird, but not too distracting. And if you get through the main levels, you can make your own or play someone else’s.

Go play it here on Newgrounds.

Look at those spikes. Look at those jumps. Look at that cool expression on the dude’s face.

Oh yes, so anyone hoping to see Edmund McMillen’s Time Fkuc/Kufc/Fcuk (it gets every variation, it seems) yesterday would’ve been disappointed.

OK, so the blog post about it came out before yesterday – but it’s a cool-looking game that oughta get noticed (unless it disappoints me). Edmund has posted a bit about the community aspect of it, as it has its own level maker. Neat! It also has a mode where you play through only user-made levels, in order of difficulty, and selected from the highest-rated ones on the site.

Head on over to the post to learn all about it in Edmund’s words. And wait until September 16, now.

Elements

Elements is an online Flash-based multiplayer Trading Card Game as well as a Magic the Gathering-clone. It allows you to play both computer-controlled players as well as human players, and the latter can be challenged in either a friendly PVP duel or a more risky PVP challenge, which may cost you coins if you lose.

Coins can be placed as stakes or used to purchase new cards for your deck at the Bazaar. You win coins by beating opponents, and the harder the player, the higher the stakes and the better the odds.

Elements is both fun and free, and is definitely a must-play. Check the official site or the Gaming World topic for more information. Also feel free to use the #netplay IRC channel on irc.gamingw.net to find an opponent from GW.
