Freeware Fridays #4: FrEewARe
handsome lamb handsome lamb
So it's Friday, your mom caught you jackin' off or something, and now that you're grounded, you've decided to steal your neighbor's internet connection to show your mom who is boss (your neighbor) but you have nothing to play. WoW is too QQ for you. Guild Wars is too boring. You haven't played this new game of Madden, but in a way you have. Street Fighter is too lame without your friends. Well...LOOK NO MORE!!

F.E.A.R. Combat
By: Sierra Entertainment + Monolith
First Person Shooter

So maybe it's a bit unfair to put a game that is technically a big time game in a list of mostly indie games, but you know what? I don't give a shit. F.E.A.R. Combat is the multiplayer only version of the PC Game F.E.A.R. (First Encounter Assault Recon, cause you attack before you recon.) for your PC. It has everything a person who bought the normal game would get, except free. It plays great, it looks great, it has standard game modes with some Capture the Node shit, it has cool weapons (plasma sniper rifle is rape...watching someone turn into a skeleton with purple flames = epic win.).

It's also pretty awesome and has cool karate moves and shit. Plus you can slow down time in certain modes. Whoooah. It's also very very fast.

You can download the full game + get your free CD-Key (only valid for Combat) at www.joinfear.com

Demon Legacy
By: NightBlade
Role-Playing Game

Demon Legacy is a RPG Maker 2003 game made by NightBlade, a member of GamingW. The game has been worked on for quite the long time. The game has a pretty damn awesome story, that while it doesn't do anything truly original, is well crafted and flows perfectly, creating an engaging atmosphere. In fact, that last sentence can sum up everything about this game. It doesn't really do anything new for the genre in features, graphics style, music, story, or anything, but what it does do new while small, is still good. Rather than over complicating the game with amazing top of the line graphics, or a fantastic original sound track, or 5000 features no one cares about, NightBlade has cut down all of this to focus on great. So while the game doesn't have anything truly exceptional to it, it creates a game that is well rounded, which I think is what makes it truly exceptional, and what makes it stand out in the sea of "focus on 1 thing to make my game awesome" that it stands in.

Survival Crisis Z
By: Ska Software
Uhhh...technically it's a Computer Role-Playing Game. But I'm going to call it a BZaOSUS (Blow Zombies and Other Shit Up Simulator)

So, this game is kinda fucking cool. Basically, it's your cliche zombie story, except, it's a CRPG. WTF? Yeah, it's awesome. You have your generic CRPG stuff like stats, mixed in with hunger and fatigue, a party, equipment, skills, its all here. There is also a pretty damn addictive survival mode where you just try to survive a infinite group of zombies. FUCK YEAH.

It's also only 7MBs, and hella addictive.

La-Mulana
By: GR3 Project
Platformer

This game is kind of like a Castlevania + Metroid, with MSX style graphics, and way more unforgiving. Basically, you're a whip wielding dude like Indiana Jones. There's tons of power ups, all which let you basically go to new areas, but the game tells you jack shit. It's like Super fucking Metroid, you gotta figure this shit out all on your own. It's crazy. It's hard. In fact, the developers basically agree with Mr. Sarevok, and say games are getting too easy, so this game is hard! Most enemies deal little damage, but you have little methods of healing. There are many instant death traps too.

Basically, this is the best freeware platformer ever if you love Castlevania/Super Metroid and can get over the graphics.

MinishooterRS Delta
By: Some Japanese people. If anyone knows, lemme know.
Shoot-em-up

MinishooterRS Delta, is a Japanese shoot-em-up that does everything right. There are TONS of levels (hidden ones too!), tons of ships (tons of unlockable ones too!), excellent sound effects, better music, a boss battle mode, and more hidden extras. Most of the in-game text is in English, so you don't need to know Japanese! You can change resolution with Q,W, and E.

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! Smile
