Game and Demo Showcase
Cheesy Doritos Cheesy Doritos
Hey hey all, Cheesy D here with a veritable GOLD MINE of cool games! I went through the first page or so of the Game und Demo forum, and picked out the top ten games. These were based somewhat off what I saw, but also on reviews and reactions of other people. These are games that both I and most of the posters in the respective topics seem to be excited for, so... LET'S GO!

(This list is in order of when I clicked on the topics, not in awesomeness or anything! Also if your game isn't here, don't take it personally please. Feel free to PM me with your game's info if you want it in the next showcase.)

Awright, let's get started.

Number 1 is..... Collision of Villnoire!

Little Wing Guy gives us a preview of this very nice looking game, but no demo yet.

When a war erupts between the two main continents of Villnoire, Nanadine and Vadan, a young man named Bridge is caught in the middle of it. Gumes and Humans, the two sentient species of Villnoire, occupy the two continents. Nanadine is the peaceful island, where Humans and Gumes coexist nicely. Vadan is the continent with the 'evil', Gume-hating Humans. When the war starts, Bridge is stuck in the crossfire. However, he makes plenty of new friends, and attempts to strive towards a common goal they all share.

Nice.

Now, for number 2... Predictably, Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden!

You must be living under a rock if you haven't heard of this gem. Barkley got reviewed on other game sites as well, and is quite famous. It's creator, Chef Boyardee, has truly made a masterpiece.

When a dangerous and powerful technique known as the Chaos Dunk emerges, basketball is completely outlawed. The event, known as the Great B-Ball purge of 2041, or the "B-Ballnacht," rocked the world to its core. One of the few members of the B-Ball community who survived the massacre, and the one who could perform the fated 'Verboten Jam': Charles Barkley. 12 years later, a Chaos Dunk literally alley oops the island of Manhattan and its populace, killing 15 million. Michael Jordan, now the leader of the government-run B-Ball Removal Department, points the long guilt-finger of the law at Charles Barkley. Charles, along with his son Hoopz, must now evade capture in the dangerous underbelly of the post-cyberpocalyptic world. He must learn more about his past, and figure out the secrets behind the dangerous terrorist organization, B.L.O.O.D.M.O.S.E.S.

Utilizes DirectX 10!

Make sure you don't miss this vidcon, guys.

Number tres on my list, is................ Excalistia!

A young man awakes in a small room, in the country of Vanalia. He's spoken to by no one except a mysterious stranger, who urges him to escape. Meanwhile, a hodgepodge of events are occuring elsewhere! Vampires, mobster assassinations, cultists terrorists, desert people, communists, Hotmogs, traitors, a man who wants to be a monkey (!?), slime monsters who build doomsday devices, soul-eating mutants, a crazy inventor, and a lot more! Battles in Excalistia are unique and fun, and you won't have to grind through a million and a half Slime Lvl. 1s, because all the battles are scripted and important. With interesting graphics and a fun story to boot, Excalistia sure isn't something to miss! Now, if only RPG will give it to us! (It's and advert, folks.)

Excellent stuff.

Okay! Number foooouuuuurrrrr...... World Crafters!

More of a community game than an actual one, Maia has the idea for everyone to contribute an area, a couple maps, etc, so that when someone plays the game, the nameless hero will have plenty of places to free-roam around in. It sounds like a pretty fun idea, and with little to no story outside the areas, it seems like it would work pretty well! For those lovers of community games, be sure to check out the demo or contribute your own ideas.

Cool.

Number 5 on my list: Dragon Fantasy!

Years ago, a large darkness spread across the land. Much like Inri Cheetos, it destroyed all that was good in the world. However, with the darkness eventually came light. Four light crystals, born from the earth itself, pressed back against the darkness and preserved life on the planet. Now, a child in a town was born with saintly symbol. In order to prove its worth, this child must traverse the Crystal Caverns to gain the blessings of the crystals.

Emulating the old-school retro games, Dragon Fantasy will no doubt make you recall years past, when you stayed up all night fighting against the Swamp Dragon, or crying over Aeris, or whatever. With its Final Fantasy graphics and simplistic but fun agenda, Dragon Fantasy is definitely a game not to be missed. Good job, Ephiam!

Numero six.... Demon Legacy!

Brought to us by ghost/man hybrid NightBlade,

In a world distraught with calamity, poverty, and suffering, one man takes a stand. Slade Ambrose, adopted by the weapons specialist Narik Ambrose, is an idealistic young knight who wishes to treat life as more than a passing problem. While corrupt officials work against the poor and hungry, Slade strives towards freedom for the human spirit.

Number 7 will be named as thus Super Boink-o-Doink!

Famed game factory Laz has popped out yet another fun game!

Larry Lipsticks, an 'upstanding citizen and good boy,' finds suddenly that his mother has just fallen into a sewer. Larry must now venture into the sewer, which has so many legends and tales associated with it that Larry doesn't know WHAT to believe (election '08 right right). Along with Laz's theme of game making, there isn't too much of a plot but the gameplay sure delivers! The graphics are original and quite unique, and the game has a particularly interesting mechanic: Larry can jump at any time, but only once. He must touch solid ground to recover his jump 'ability'.

EDIT: Did someone do something with 2 of these screens?

Be sure to play it!

#8..... The Legend of Zelda: Pearl of Darkness.

dlbrooks33 brings us quite the beautiful Zelda fan game. There's not much to say, except that it looks great and functions nice, which is all you could ever ask for from a Zelda fan game. This demo is a precursor to a great game, it seems!

Basically, one day Link is in Termina, trekking back to Hyrule, when he gets assaulted by a dark shape. The shape exclaims that its plans are already in motion, and that Link can't stop them. However, before this punk gets away, Link glimpses his face. Apparently, Link's evil clone is planning something big! Link got knocked unconscious, and when he wakes up, he is in a strange town. Link tries to make sense of this stuff throughout the game. Fans of Dark Link, rejoice!

EDIT: And two of these...?

Great!

Numbero nine-o............. Lurking Under Life.

From the man, who brought us games like Under and Black, we get yet another XP stand-alone game. Chapter 1 of a three-part horror story, this game focuses on puzzles and scaring the player, as opposed to battles.

Treasure hunter Vain Nesohc returned from an expedition in South Africa, with a letter from his Uncle Geoff waiting for him. As the letter says, his Uncle Geoff has left him a small inheritance, along with a house in Antarctica. This house was built over what Uncle Geoff believes to be an old temple, and so Vain Nesohc goes to investigate. Perhaps this house has more than anyone thought... Find out now!

The final game on my list (10th, that is): Terra Australis Incognita.

CAHRULL shows us what he's made of, with this advert of what looks like quite the intriguing and unique game.

Basically the game revolves around an expedition to Antarctica, back when it was more or less undiscovered, and their adventures there. Way back when, it was called 'Terra Australis Incognita', which means 'the unknown land to the south'. While he doesn't give off too much in terms of plot, this game (to me) looks fantastic. Featuring an ensemble cast and completely original graphics save the few rips that will be replaced, Terra Australis Incognita reminds me personally of Bonehead's old foray into the gaming business. They also remind me of Homeland, somewhat. I simply love these graphics, so I'm going to go ahead and put all five screen shots in, as opposed to three.

Alright! That's that. Next time I do this, I'll probably do ~5, since this took a good chunk of my time. Enjoy!
And, remember guys...

NOTE: All screenshots are either from Photobucket, Imageshack, the GW uploader, or the specific member's own site. Basically these are the pictures from the threads. If those people would rather I upload the picture to the GW uploader and use that, just PM me and I'll make the changes! Thanks!

EDIT: Some screens are missing, I'm not sure why... But they're all from the topics anyway, so check 'em out!
