Murder Death Kill
Once upon a time, American comic books were subject to what is arguably America's most destructive self censoring movement.  Entire companies crumbled and readership declined like an alpine ski slope.  As the late 80s rolled around and self-publishing became more popular, the iron manacles of censorship were shattered.  Even the most depraved acts that would be banned from movies and books could be published by a single writer with a few hundred dollars.  Instantly, American comic book artists began churning out the unmolested, uncensored stories they wanted to create since day one.

About every week someone on 4chan makes a thread of the greatest scenes in comic book violence.  For your viewing pleasure, you will be subjected to these panels of blood and depravity followed by a rating of 1-5 Satoru Ogura's.  Some of these images may contain SPOILERS and if you have a weak stomach or you're a total puss, turn your head.  Those of you with balls of steel and iron constitutions, prepare to be dazzled and amazed at the wonderful world of--

The Art of BLOOD

Friday the 13th

F13 movies have always had ridiculous murders and people watch the shit for the over-the-top deaths.  When WildStorm picked up the license into comic book form they successfully copied the flairless style into print form.  Get a load of this mess:

Jason uses a shopping cart as a meat grinder.  It doesn't matter that the flimsy metal of a shopping cart would bend against a human skull or that the man would collapse under the intense force of Jason smashing him.  This is how awesome Jason is and why he kicked Freddy's ass and argued with Pinhead and isn't afraid of anything.  As if this amazing act of strength wasn't enough, check this shit out:

Yeah, Jason totally severed the dude's skull with a paper folder.  A PAPER FOLDER.

The Exterminators

The Exterminators was a pretty underrated series that unfortunately got canceled 20 issues shy of its finishing point.  Even though it wasn't bloody violent, it contained plenty of grossout scenes and black humor especially as it explored the fetid lives of nasty humans and the mating rituals of monstrous bugs.  Imagine yourselves in this scene; you spot an old woman chained to a feces stained bed and as you free her she hastily scrapes off the flies that have been slowly eating away at her flesh.  Fucking nasty.

The Pro

Garth Ennis is famous for the nutshot (I don't think there's a single issue of Punisher MAX where Detective Soap DOESN'T get kicked in the nuts) but The Pro is the magnum opus of nut kicking.  A prostitute turned super hero, grab your nuts in pain as this girl kicks a guy so hard the force rips his legs off and kills him.

Yeah.

Rawhead Rex

A beautiful graphic novel based on the shitty Clive Barker movie of the same name, Rawhead Rex is about a pagan demon (most likely a reference to Tommy Rawhead and Bloody Bones) that kills a bunch of people but unlike most demons he has a human side to him which is explored in well written vignettes.  Plot aside, Rawhead is a vicious killer and here we see him unceremoniously bite off a 10 year old girl's head in a single chomp.

How's that for badass?

Ruins

Another Ennis story, Ruins is basically a "I hate supers" limited series about a man interviewer iconic superheroes that were either hunted down or died during their transformations.  While the comic is particularly nasty in some shots, the scene depicting Hulk's death is ridiculous.  When Bruce Banner is hit with gamma rays, rather than becoming the Incredible Hulk, he instead transforms into a bulging mass of tumors.

Transmetropolitan

Transmetro is one of those comics that you either hate with every fiber of your being or love... a lot.  It's chock full of dark humor and absurd catchphrases from the leading role Spider Jerusalem (which is seriously the best name ever).  While this scene is by far one of the tamer ones in the series (one issue has a woman's head fucking explode in tiny bits) the fact that it involves a cute unassuming dog made me roar with laughter.  Fuck cute unassuming animals.

The Darkness

Top Cow hit the charts with this Witchblade spinoff and it definitely has it's ridiculously gorey moments.  This scene isn't as bad as some of Jackie's up close murders but the thought of getting your teeth fucking torched gives me shivers.  Notice the smoke coming from the man's crotch.

Let this be a lesson to all of ya's DON'T FUCK WITH DON FRANK.

Violence Rating:

Miracleman

The cream of this article's crop; If there's one thing you can expect from Allan Moore it's rape.  Every story, someone gets fucking raped.  In a scene from Miracleman, in which some fans call it his most brutal writing ever (and it pretty much is), John transforms into Kid Miracleman after getting raped in the ass by British kids.  The following scene that incurs is the mass genocide of pretty much all of London.  Skin hangs from clothing lines, mutated children walk the street, cars are teleported into the sky and dropped to the ground, heads are impaled on big ben, it's fucking ridiculous.
